Our Community Standards & Guidelines
Bird Connect Africa is committed to maintaining a fair, open, and trustworthy platform. We provide community features that allow our customers to share honest experiences, ask questions, and engage with other users — whether their feedback is positive or constructive. This page explains how to make the best use of these features, including Product Reviews, Questions & Answers, and Account Community Pages.

These guidelines do not apply to the content of products or services sold on our platform, which are governed by separate policies.
We take the authenticity of our community very seriously. Submitting false, misleading, or manipulated content of any kind is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
Violations of these guidelines may result in restrictions to your community access, removal of your content, delisting of associated products, or suspension and permanent termination of your account. Where misconduct is confirmed, pending payments or remittances may be withheld or permanently forfeited.
Misconduct may also carry legal consequences under applicable laws, including consumer protection regulations, and could result in civil or criminal penalties.
If you suspect that any form of content manipulation or guideline violation is taking place on our platform, we encourage you to report it to us immediately. All reports are investigated thoroughly and appropriate action is taken.
By accessing or using any Bird Connect Africa community feature, you agree to our Terms of Use and to follow these guidelines as they are updated from time to time. These guidelines apply to all content you submit — including text, images, videos, and links — and to all actions you take, such as rating reviews or responding to other users.
Eligibility
To contribute to community features such as Product Reviews, Answers, and Idea Lists, or to follow other contributors, you must be an active customer with a minimum of 6 completed orders within the past 12 months. This requirement does not apply to reading community content, posting questions, or managing Shopping or Wish Lists.
Be Helpful and Relevant
Our community exists to provide genuine, useful information to fellow customers. Everything you submit should be honest, relevant, and based on your own personal experience.
- Content should be focused on a specific product or closely related topic.
- Product Reviews and Questions & Answers should directly concern the product in question.
- Feedback about delivery, packaging, or seller conduct should be directed to us via email at info@birdconnectafrica.com rather than posted in product reviews.
- Comments about pricing, availability, or alternative purchasing options are not product-related and should not appear in Reviews or Q&A sections.
Respect Within the Community
Bird Connect Africa welcomes a wide range of opinions and perspectives. Content you may personally disagree with does not automatically violate our guidelines. However, all participation must remain respectful. Specifically:
- Do not post content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or inflammatory. This includes the use of profanity, hate speech, or content that expresses intolerance toward individuals based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
- Do not post obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit content of any kind.
- Do not share other people’s private information, including phone numbers, email addresses, or home addresses.
- Do not impersonate other users, organisations, or public figures.
- Do not attempt to dominate or distort community discussions by posting from multiple accounts or coordinating with others to suppress opposing views.
Promotions and Commercial Solicitations
To protect the integrity of our community, advertising, promotional content, and solicitations — whether direct or indirect — are not permitted. This includes:
- Submitting, editing, or publishing content in exchange for any form of compensation, including free products, discounts, refunds, or reimbursements.
- Offering or requesting compensation of any kind in exchange for community content.
- Posting advertisements, referral links, or affiliate URLs.
Permitted exceptions include:
- Content specifically invited by Bird Connect Africa, such as reviews of products you have purchased on our platform. Such content must follow any additional guidelines we specify.
- Answers to questions in the Q&A section where you have a financial or personal connection to the brand or seller — provided you clearly disclose that relationship (e.g., “I represent this brand”). Where we automatically label answers from sellers or manufacturers, no further disclosure is needed.
Intellectual Property
Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property or proprietary rights of others. Only submit content that belongs to you or that you have explicit permission to use.
Illegal Activity
Do not post content that promotes, encourages, or supports illegal behaviour of any kind, including violence, fraud, drug misuse, underage drinking, or animal abuse. Prohibited content includes:
- Statements that advocate, threaten, or joke about physical or financial harm to any person, including acts of terrorism.
- Offers or promotions involving fraudulent goods, services, or schemes.
- Content that encourages the dangerous or unlawful misuse of any product.
Additional Guidelines for Product Reviews
- If your review is removed for violating our promotional content policy, you may not resubmit a review for the same product, even with different content.
- Reviews may only contain links to other products available on the Bird Connect Africa platform.
- Members of the same household may not submit multiple reviews for the same product.
- We may limit review submissions when unusual activity is detected, in order to protect the integrity of the shopping experience.
